Wanderers edge past Birkirkara

Sliema Wanderers recovered from the shock elimination from the FA Trophy as they registered a third league win on the trot by defeating Birkirkara 2-1 at the Hibernians Stadium on Saturday.

A win which enables the Blues to move eighth on 14 points, together with Gudja, one point ahead of Birkirkara and Mosta and two ahead of Senglea.

Birkirkara, on the other hand, suffer another setback in their bid to climb further up the table as they are now back in tenth place.

Caio Henrique Prado put the Stripes ahead on the 40th minute after he received an assist by Matthew Guillaumier on the right, beating Jake Galea with a cute lob.

However, two minutes later, Jean Paul Farrugia equalised for Sliema as he flicked the ball home past Hogg following a cross by Juri Cisotti from the right.

Juri Cisotti notched the winner on the 75th minute with a fine rising shot which gave the Birkirkara goalkeeper no chance.
