Miguel Angel Alba will be playing once again for Valletta after being released by Birkirkara.
Alba had joined Birkirkara in summer but his signing was surrounded with controversy after he was announced as a new signing of Bolivian side Club Deportivo Jorge Wilstermann two weeks later. However the matter was resolved and he played for the Stripes but last week, the two parties agreed to have the contract terminated.
Alba had a first spell with Birkirkara in the latter part of season 2016/17 but after not being retained by the Stripes, he moved back to Argentina where he played for Gimnasia y Tiro (Salta). However, he returned to Malta in January 2018 to join Valletta where he spent eighteen months, until the end of last season, winning two championships.
Earlier in his career, Alba played for CA Union, CA Chacarita Juniors, CA Douglas Haig, Alianza Petrolera in Colombia, CD Nublense in Chile, Deportivo Santamarina, CD Guarani, Paphos FC in Cyprus, PAE Veria in Greece and Ermis Aradippou in Cyprus.
