As part of the ongoing refereeing exchange programmes with various member associations within UEFA, the Malta FA has the pleasure to announce that two of its Elite Futsal Referees will be officiating top matches in Sweden and Norway.
Malta’s number one FIFA futsal referee Clinton Cassar will be in charge of the match between Örebro SK and Borås AIK at the Gamla Idrottshuset in Örebro on Saturday.
The other members of the refereeing team are FIFA Referee David Glavonjic and Elite Referee Mauritz Grendin, both from Sweden. The appointed referee observer is Thore Johansson.
Cassar has also been appointed for the decisive match between Athletic FC Eskilstuna and Hammarby IF, who are currently occupying the top two standings in the Swedish Futsal League.
The match is being played on Sunday at the Stiga Sports Arena in Eskilstuna at 17.15hrs and will be broadcast live on Eurosport 1 in Sweden.
The Swedish FA has appointed FIFA Referees Haris Curovac and David Glavonjic to accompany Clinton Cassar in this top fixture, while former international referee Fredric Nilholt will be monitoring the match officials’ performance.
Elite Referee Jonathan Mallia, also a FIFA Beach Soccer Referee, will also be officiating key matches from the Norwegian Futsal Premier League later this month involving current league leaders Ulteira.
On Saturday 25th January Jonathan Mallia will be officiating of the Sandefjord vs Ulteira match, while on Sunday 26th January he will be in charge of the OSI vs Ulteira game.
The Norwegian FA has appointed FIFA Referee Omar Rafiq and former international referee Bjorn Tore Tvedt as the other members of the officiating teams for these two top matches.
