Xewkija Tigers and Victoria Hotspurs both registered comfortable wins in the BOV Gozo Football League First Division at the Gozo Stadium on Sunday.
Xewkija defeated Gharb Rangers 5-1. Following a goalless first half, Claudio Daniel Frances put the Tigers ahead on the 54th and Johnny Camilleri doubled the score eleven minutes later. Jose Carlos Nogueira Junior increased the lead on the 73rd but Camilo Andres Babilonia pulled one back on the 79th. However goals by Manwel Xerri on the 84th and Claudio Antunes Pavlidis on the 90th handed Xewkija a 5-1 win.
On the other hand, Victoria Hotspurs registered a 7-2 win over Gharb Rangers. Emiliano Lattes put the Hotspurs ahead after just four minutes and after Kercem had a player sent off, Elton da Silva doubled the score on the 24th with Lattes adding another on the 26th. Elton da Silva scored the Hotspurs’ fourth on the 38th and three minutes from the end of the first half, Christian Mercieca added another. Kercem reduced the gap on the 63rd thanks to Darko Krstic but Victoria scored a sixth goal thanks to Dylan Bellotti on the 66th. Andrea Debrincat scored a second goal for Kercem on teh 73rd but Elton da Silva made it 7-2 five minutes later.
Meanwhile in the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division, Sannat Lions moved five points clear thanks to a 3-0 win over Qala Saints at the Kercem Ajax Stadium on Saturday courtesy of Mario Mifsud on the 26th and an Ebube Ralph Okpokwu brace on the 52nd and 76th.
In another match, St. Lawrence Spurs defeated Munxar Falcons 2-1. An own goal five minutes from the end of the first half put Munxar ahead but in the dying minutes, Munxar had a player sent off and Matthias Michael Uzor converted a penalty on the 89th to level matters and Karl Formosa notched the winner five minutes in added time.
