Senglea Athletic and Sirens shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at the Hibernians Stadium on Saturday in a match which marked the debut of new Senglea coach Giorgio Roselli.
Senglea have now gone seven matches without a win to stay third from bottom while Sirens are alone in fourth place, one point ahead of Hibernians, who however have a game in hand.
Senglea took the lead on the 35th minute when following a good run on the left, Jose Wilkson Teixeira delivered a cross for Marcelo Dias who dashed into the area to hit hard past Sirens goalie David Cassar.
However, four minutes later, Sirens levelled matters thanks to Romario Lucas Memezes who received an assist on the left by Flavio Cheveresan and beat David Cassar with an angled shot.
Senglea regained the lead on the 68th minute when Dejan Debono released Marcelo Dias on the right and off the latter’s cross, there was an erratic clearance by Sergio Raphael dos Anjos with substitute Ricardo Theodoro de Almeida taking full advantage, beating Cassar with a low shot.
However one minute from time, Sirens restored equilibrium when a cross by Siraj Arab Eddin from the right hit the upright and off the rebound, new signing Edward Herrera managed to place the ball at the back of the net from close range.
