Hibernians move second as they register 2-0 win over Gudja

Hibernians moved second in the BOV Premier League thanks to a 2-0 win over Gudja United at the National Stadium on Sunday.

The Paolites therefore extend their positive run to seven matches with five wins and two draws. Gudja, on the other hand, suffer a second consecutive defeat in five days to remain joint-third from bottom.

Gudja had Edison Bilbao Zarate making his debut while Nivaldo Rodrigues Ferreira was named in the starting line-up. Missing for the Hibernians were the suspended Andrei Agius, Marcio Leandro Barbosa da Silveira and Bjorn Kristensen.

Hibernians took the lead on the 32nd minute when off a cross by Timothy Tabone Desira from the right, Imanol Iriberri served Jurgen Degabriele who slammed the ball past goalkeeper Jonathan Debono.

Twelve minutes in the second half, the Paolites doubled the score when off an assist by Ayrton Attard from the right, Imanol Iriberri slotted the ball past the Gudja goalkeeper.
