Leaders Attard bounced back from the defeat to Msida in their last outing as they registered a fine 4-1 win over Kirkop United at the Sirens Stadium in one of the four matches in programme on Sunday.
Kenneth Ekezie put Kirkop ahead on the 12th minute but goals by Bledi Alla on the 35th and 55th and Christian Farrugia turned the score in favour of Attard. In the dying minutes, Attard scored another two goals through Nicholas Schembri on the 81st and Christian Farrugia six minutes later.
Gharghur also came from behind to beat Ta’ Xbiex 2-1 in another match at the Sirens Stadium. Owen Dalli gave Ta’ Xbiex the lead on the 23rd but Gharghur hit back with goals by Trevor Cilia on the half hour and Allan Fernandes Moreira three minutes in the second half.
At the Luxol Stadium, Dingli Swallows defeated Siggiewi 2-1 thanks to goals by Dario Borg on the 35th and Nikola Tasic on the 59th. Edward Bugeja had equalised for Siggiewi on the 56th.
In another match, Mdina Knights leapfrogged Sta. Venera Lightnings, beating them 5-2. Goals by Daniel Cremona on the 12th and Andreas Anastasi on the 24th put Mdina two goals ahead but Ryan Grech reduced the gap just before half-time. However Mdina hit back with goals by Ryan Sciberras on the 56th and 83rd and Andreas Anastasi on the 75th. Tyrone Grech scored a second goal for Sta. Venera on the 90th.
Attard lead the way with 25 points, followed by Ghaxaq, Kirkop and Msida on 21, Siggiewi 20, Gharghur 19, Dingli 16, Marsaskala 11, Mtarfa 10, Mdina 8, Sta. Venera 6 and Ta’ Xbiex 4.
