Mgarr United joined Marsa on top the BOV Second Division table after beating them 3-1 in a top-of-the-table clash at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.
Jamie Lee Micallef gave Mgarr the lead on the 27th and five minutes later, Kenneth Aquilina doubled the score. Jamie Lee Aquilina added another on the 61st with Shalon Diacono reducing the gap on the 77th minute.
Rabat Ajax moved second thanks to a narrow win over Luqa St. Andrew’s. Aidan Azzopardi scored the all-important goal on the 32nd minute.
In another match, Kalkara came from behind to beat St. Patrick 3-1 despite having a player sent off. Shawn Vella put St. Patrick ahead on the 11th minute but Isaac Galea equalised on the 75th before they turned the score in their favour through Larson Mallia on the 87th and Vladimir Tosic deep into stoppage time.
Marsa and Mgarr lead the way with 25 points, followed by Rabat on 24, Marsaxlokk and San Gwann on 22, Melita 18, Kalkara and Zurrieq 17, Birzebbuga 14, Mellieha 12, Xghajra 8, Zabbar 7, Luqa 5.
