Two of the teams relegated from the Premier League – Valletta and Sirens – were paired together on match-day 1 of the BOV Challenge League 2024/25. The draws were held by Malta FA Director Operations Stephen Azzopardi and former Lija Athletic, Gzira United and Vittoriosa Stars player Daniel Scerri on Wednesday.
Taking part in the BOV Challenge League this season are Fgura United, Gudja United, Lija Athletic, Marsa, Mgarr United, Mtarfa, Pieta’ Hotspurs, Santa Lucia, Senglea Athletic, Sirens, St. Andrews, Swieqi United, Tarxien Rainbows, Valletta, Zebbug Rangers and Zurrieq.
The sixteen teams will be playing on a one-round round robin in the first phase.
For the second phase, the teams will then be divided in the Top 8 Group and the Play-Out Group where teams will be playing on a one-round league basis.
The top two will be promoted to the Premier League and the bottom two will be relegated to the Amateur League 1.
