Gudja, Hamrun earn a point in 1-1 draw

Gudja United and Hamrun Spartans earned a point each in a 1-1 draw at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

A draw which puts the Spartans temporarily in seventh place together with Birkirkara and Mosta as they extend their winless streak to eight matches.

Gudja, on the other hand, earn a precious point following the defeats to Mosta and Hibernians and are now tenth.

Hamrun managed to take the lead on the 11th minute when Soufiane Lagzir exchanged the ball with Conor Borg before hitting low past Jonathan Debono with a shot from the edge of the area.

On the 66th minute, Gudja equalised thanks to a powerful long-distance shot by Anderson de Barros which gave Manuel Bartolo goalkeeper no chance.

Hamrun could have regained the lead on the 74th minute when Ailton Jorge dos Santos Soares was brought down inside the area by Juan Andres Bolanos. However Clayton Failla’s effort was neutralised by Jonathan Debono.

Four minutes from time, the Spartans were reduced to ten men as substitute Darren Borg received a second yellow card.
