Lydon Micallef was the hero for Marsa as he notched a hat-trick on his debut in a win over Rabat Ajax in one of the four matches from the BOV Second Division in programme on Sunday. A win which enables Marsa to regain sole leadership.
At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Lydon Micallef scored on the 50th, 55th and 96th to hand Marsa a 3-0 win over Rabat.
San Gwann came back from two goals down to hold Mgarr United in a 2-2 draw at the Luxol Stadium. A brace by Aaron Sammut on the 37th and 44th gave Mgarr a two-goal lead during the first half but Nezar Abouhaisa pulled one back on the 59th and Luca Mallia equalised on the 74th.
In another match at the Luxol Stadium, Birzebbuga St. Peter’s and Zurrieq shared the spoils in a goalless draw.
On the other hand, at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Mellieha beat Melita 2-1 thanks to goals by Michael Micallef on the 9th minute and David Fenech on the 42nd with Jake Engerer scoring a consolation goal in added time.
Marsa lead the way with 28 points followed by Mgarr on 26, Marsaxlokk 25, Rabat 24, San Gwann 23, Melita and Zurrieq 18, Kalkara 17, Birzebbuga and Mellieha 15, Xghajra 9, Zabbar 7 and Luqa 6.
