BOV Women’s League: Swieqi United close in on Birkirkara

Swieqi United moved to just three points behind leaders Birkirkara following a most comfortable 7-0 win over Mosta at the Mgarr Ground on Tuesday.

The match was originally scheduled for December 3 but the match at the Dingli Ground was abandoned on the 21st minute with the score 1-0 thanks to a Jade Flask goal on the 8th minute.

When the match resumed, Demi Magrin doubled the score on teh 33rd and Chantelle Grech made it 3-0 on the 42nd. Twelve minutes in the second half, Ruth Steer Chetham increased the lead further with Kayleigh Chetcuti scoring a fifth on the 75th. Dorianne Theyma scored twice on the 77th and 84th for a seven-nil win.

Meanwhile last week a goal on the 90th minute by Liis Pello handed Kirkop United a 1-0 win over Mosta at the Mgarr Ground.

In the Women’s Under-19 League, Swieqi United stay one point clear of Mgarr United as both registered wins. Swieqi defeated Birkirkara 4-1 while Mgarr beat Hibernians 13-3. Raiders GFC registered a 2-0 win over Kirkop United while Mosta beat Mtarfa 6-1.

On the other hand, in the Women’s Under-15 League, Swieqi United registered an eighth win on the trot as they beat bottom-placed Mtarfa 12-0.

Birkirkara were held in a 1-1 draw by Mgarr United, allowing Raiders GFC to close in on them, defeating Senglea Athletic 14-1. In another match, Kirkop United defeated Mosta 3-1
