Derby win for Santa Lucia

Santa Lucia leapfrogged neighbours Gudja United as they registered a second consecutive win, beating them 2-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

Oliver Spiteri’s side joins Sliema on the 17-point mark, two ahead of Gudja and Senglea thanks to this third consecutive positive result.

On the other hand, for Gudja, this was the third defeat in four matches.

Santa Lucia took the lead on the 15th minute thanks to Kevin Ante Rosero whose header beat goalkeeper Jonathan Debono.

On the 33rd minute, they doubled the score courtesy of Jackson David Usuga Mendoza whose great shot gave the Gudja goalkeeper no chance.

Gudja pulled one back on the 71st minute thanks to a goal by Rundell Winchester whose powerful shot from inside the area beat Timmy Aquilina.
