Lija Athletic joined leaders Zejtun Corinthians on top the BOV First Division as they defeated Mqabba 4-2 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Friday.

Yuki Omuro gave Mqabba the lead on the 4th minute but Russell Fenech equalised one minute from the end of the first half. Dylan Micallef restored the lead for Mqabba three minutes in the second half but two minutes later, Kabelo Seakanyeng levelled matters. Seakanyeng made it 3-2 on the 56th and on the hour, Clifford Gauci scored Lija’s fourth.

In another match, Swieqi United and Zebbug Rangers shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Kyle Muscat put Swieqi ahead on the 13th minute but Lawrence Uchechi Chiedozie equalised three minutes from the end of the first half.

Zejtun and Lija lead the way with 29 points, followed by St. Andrews on 25, Pembroke and Qrendi 23, Naxxar 22, Pieta’ and Swieqi 19, Zebbug 17, Qormi 16, Mqabba and St. George’s 14, Fgura and Vittoriosa 12.
