Gzira test for leaders Floriana

After suffering a second defeat in three matches, Floriana will be hoping to return to winning ways as they take on Gzira United on one of the four matches in programme on Saturday.

Valletta aim at extending their positive run in the clash with Balzan, Birkirkara face Mosta while Gudja United take on Sliema Wanderers.

Gudja United vs Sliema Wanderers 14:00 Centenary Stadium

Precious points will be at stake as Gudja cross swords with Sliema. Gudja share the second place from bottom with Senglea, two behind Sliema and Santa Lucia. They lost three out of the last four matches, earning a point in a draw with Hamrun. Sliema, on the other hand, bounced from three successive defeats with a 2-0 win over Gzira.

In the first round, Sliema and Gudja shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

Birkirkara vs Mosta 16:15 Centenary Stadium

After being held in draws by Senglea and Balzan, Birkirkara will be hoping to return to winning ways as they take on Mosta. The Stripes are currently eighth, one point behind Mosta who share sixth place with the Balzan. Mosta, on the other hand, won three out of the last four matches.

In the first round, the two teams earned a point each in a 1-1 draw.

Valletta vs Balzan 14:00 National Stadium

Second-placed Valletta will be hoping to extend their unbeaten run to eleven matches with a third win on the trot after beating Sliema and Floriana in their last outing. A win could possibly hand them the top spot should the Greens fail to beat Gzira as the Citizens lie just two points behind Floriana.

Balzan, on the other hand, share sixth place with Mosta, winning just two out of the last six matches.

Valletta defeated Balzan 2-0 in the first round and 2-1 in the BOV Super Cup.

Gzira United vs Floriana 16:00 National Stadium

Floriana and Gzira will both be all out to return to winning ways after disappointing in recent outings. The Greens lost two out of the last three matches while the Maroons lost three out of the last four.

Floriana lead the way with 34 points, just two points ahead of Valletta and three ahead of Sirens and therefore cannot afford dropping any points. Gzira, on the other hand, are currently fifth on 28 points, two behind Hibs and three behind Sirens.

In the first round, Floriana and Gzira shared the spoils in a goalless draw.
