Birkirkara move sixth

After dropping points in draws with Senglea Athletic and Balzan, Birkirkara returned to winning ways as they defeated Mosta 2-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

A win which enables the Stripes to climb from eighth to sixth as they now lie two points ahead of Balzan and the same Mosta.

Birkirkara managed to take the lead on the 9th minute thanks to Isaac Ntow who received a cross from the right and headed home past goalkeeper Nicky Vella.

Matthew Guillaumier doubled the score on the 24th minute with a fine long-distance effort which gave the Mosta goalkeeper no chance when served by Paul Mbong.

The Blues pulled one back nine minutes in the second half through Christian Chaney who beat Andrew Hogg with a shot from outside the area despite the Birkirkara goalkeeper’s desperate attempt to clear into safety.
