Leaders Marsa moved five points clear in the BOV Second Division while San Gwann, Marsaxlokk and Rabat Ajax all collected the three points in the four matches in programme on Sunday.
At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Marsa defeated Xghajra Tornados 2-1. Paul Lapira opened the score on the 3rd minute and Larson Mallia doubled the score on the 9th. Royter Degiorgio pulled one back for Xghajra on the 23rd.
San Gwann move second as they beat Luqa St. Andrew’s 2-1 at the Luxol Stadium. Andrea Zammit scored twice on the 27th and the 70th to put San Gwann two goals ahead with an own goal four minutes from time reducing the gap for San Gwann.
Marsaxlokk registered a comfortable 4-1 win over Zabbar St. Patrick at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Josef Dalli handed Marsaxlokk the lead on the 24th and Kenneth Aquilina doubled the score on the 48th. Ryan Micallef increased the lead on the 63rd and although Aud-Gustine James Obaje pulled one back for Zabbar three minutes from time, Ryan Micallef scored Marsaxlokk’s fourth in added time.
In another match at the Luxol Stadium, Rabat Ajax defeated Melita 2-1 to join Mgarr United in fourth place. Larens Vella opened the score on the half-hour and Nicolai Attard scored a second goal just before the end of the first half. Melita scored a consolation goal thanks to Karl Mohnani on the 68th.
Marsa lead the way with 34 points followed by San Gwann on 29, Marsaxlokk 28, Mgarr and Rabat 27, Zurrieq 24, Kalkara 20, Melita 19, Mellieha 18, Birzebbuga 15, Zabbar 10, Xghajra 9 and Luqa 6.
