Zejtun Corinthians keep marching on in the BOV First DIvision as they defeated St. Andrews 3-2 in one of the three matches in programme at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.
Miguel D’Alessandro put the Saints ahead on the 15th minute but Neil Tabone equalised and then Joseph Jojo Ogunnupe scored twice on the 39th and 72nd top put Zejtun 3-1 ahead before Mattia Veselji reduced the gap on the 75th.
Naxxar Lions registered a fine 4-0 win over Pieta’ Hotspurs. The Hotspurs have now gone six matches without a win.
A brace by Abubakar Bello Osagie on the 32nd and 37th put Naxxar two gaols ahead and Edson Cerquiera Farias added another one minute from the end of the first half. Darren Falzon converted a penalty ten minutes from time.
In another match, Fgura United and Qormi shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Fgura went two goals ahead thanks to an Alejandro Toncheff penalty on the 29th and a goal by Gustavo Ferreira de Souza one minute from the end of the first half but Freud Gnindokponou pulled one back on the 64th and three minutes in added time, Ratko Mandic scored a dramatic equaliser for Qormi.
Zejtun lead the way with 32 points, followed by Lija on 29, Qrendi 26, Naxxar and St. Andrews 25, Pembroke 23, Naxxar 22, Pieta’ and Swieqi 19, Qormi and Zebbug 17, Vittoriosa 15, Mqabba and St. George’s 14, Fgura 13.
