Lija Athletic regained the top spot in the BOV First Division as they defeated Vittoriosa Stars 5-0 the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Saturday.
Erjon Beu put Lija ahead on the 11th and Kabelo Seakanyeng doubled the score on the 22nd. Frank Temile made it 3-0 on the 32nd. Gianluca Bugeja increased the lead on the 58th and Erjon Beu added another on the 90th
Meanwhile in another match, Pieta’ Hotspurs and Zebbug Rangers shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.
Muda Fagbeja put Zebbug ahead after just seven minutes but James Scicluna equalised on the 28th minute and five minutes from the end of the first half, Neil Pace Cocks handed Pieta’ the lead. However a penalty by Saturday Nanapere on the 64th minute restored equilibrium.
Lija lead the way with 33 points followed by Zejtun on 32, Qrendi 29, Pembroke 27, St. Andrews 26, Naxxar 25, Pieta’, Qormi, Swieqi and Zebbug 21, Fgura and Vittoriosa 16, Mqabba and St. George’s 15.
