Leaders Marsa suffered another unexpected setback as they lost 1-2 to Melita in one of the two matches from the BOV Second Division at the Luxol Stadium on Saturday.

Daniel William Claridge put Melita ahead on the 66th minute and although Karl Conti equalised on the 88th, Luke Mifsud notched the winner for the Amateurs three minutes in added time.

In another match, Zurrieq registered a 4-0 win over Luqa St. Andrew’s.

Stefi Cale opened the score on the 19th minute and Nicholas Zammit doubled the scoring four minutes from the end of the first half. Six minutes in the second half, Andre Joe Cutajar scored a third goal with Claudio Calleja adding another on the 75th.

Marsa lead the way with 34 points followed by San Gwann on 32, Marsaxlokk 31, Mgarr 30, Rabat and Zurrieq 28, Melita 25, Kalkara 20, Mellieha 18, Birzebbuga 15, Zabbar 13, Xghajra 9 and Luqa 6.
