Leaders Nadur Youngsters and second-placed Xewkija Tigers both registered comfortable wins on Sunday.
Nadur maintained an eight-point lead at the summit thanks to a 3-0 win over SK Victoria Wanderers. Marcelo Junior Barbosa scored twice on the 10th minute and the 30th to put Nadur two goals ahead and Daniel Farrugia sealed the issue with a third goal on the hour.
Xewkija, on the other hand, beat Gharb Rangers 4-0. Johnny Camilleri handed Xewkija the lead on the 31st minute and Jackson de Lima doubled the score three minutes from the end of the first half. Eight minutes from time, Jose Carlos Nogueira Junior scored the Tigers’ third goal and on the 90th, Michael Camilleri added another.
Xaghra United moved third from bottom after holding Ghajnsielem in a goalless draw on Friday while Victoria Hotspurs moved three points ahead of Ghajnsielem thanks to a 2-0 win over Kercem Ajax courtesy of Henrique de Souza Maciel on the 9th minute and an Emiliano Patricio Lattes penalty on the 70th.
Meanwhile the Hotspurs set up a clash with Nadur Youngsters in the final of the First Division Knock-Out after defeating Gharb Rangers 3-1 in the semi-finals. Emiliano Lattes opened the score on the 59th and Christian Mercieca made it 2-0 on the 73rd. Aleksandar Komljenovic pulled one back for Gharb on the 92nd but Emiliano Lattes sealed the issue with a third goal on the 93rd.
Meanwhile in the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division, Sannat Lions returned to winning ways after beating St. Lawrence Spurs 2-0 at the Kercem Ajax Stadium on Saturday. The Lions managed to break the deadlock four minutes from time through Joseph Zammit and Daniel Borg doubled the score one minute in added time.
Zebbug Rovers defeated Qala Saints 4-1. Tiago Barbosa converted a penalty after just one minute and although Peter Muscat equalised on the 9th, Barbosa scored twice – on the 11th and 24th to restore the lead. Marvic Grima added another on the 59th.
Meanwhile Sannat Lions and St. Lawrence Spurs secured a place in the semi-finals of the Second Division Knock-Out after emerging as winners in the quarter-finals on Tuesday.
St. Lawrence needed extra-time to defeat Zebbug Rovers 2-0. An own goal on the 102nd minute put them ahead and Matthias Michael Uzor doubled the score on the 117th. In the other match, goals by Joseph Zammit on the 6th and 46th and another by Lucas Silva Gomes on the 50th handed Sannat a 3-1 win over Munxar Falcons with an Ayesller Carvalho penalty in added time reducing the gap for the Falcons.
In the semi-finals, St. Lawrence take on Qala Saints while Sannat Lions face Oratory Youths.
