MFA Annual General Meeting to be held on Wednesday

The Annual General Meeting of the Malta Football Association for the Year 2020 will be held on Wednesday 29th July at the Dolmen Hotel, Qawra.

As usual, among the items on the agenda is the Approval of the Minutes of the last AGM held on July 20th 2019; the Approval of the Report of Activities of the Association and the Audited Accounts and Balance Sheet of the Association (Financial Report) for the year 2019/2020; the Election of the Ordinary Members of the Executive Committee of the Association for the year 2020/2021; amendments to the the Statute of the Association and Motions.

There will be no election for the officials of the association as these were elected last year for a four-year term. On the other hand, only one election is necessary for the ordinary members of the Executive Committee as the number of nominees was equal to the number of vacancies for twelve of the fourteen seats.

An election for the Council Members in representation of Member Clubs in general is required due to the nomination of Jesmond Abela, Peter Fenech, Chris Grech and Chris Muscat for the two posts.

The other Council Members to be elected to the Executive Committee are:
Premier Division: Victor Cassar and George Galea
First Division: Joseph Sammut and Stefan Vella
Second Division: Godfrey Borg and Raymond Micallef
Third Division: Robert Camilleri and Cory Greenland
The Youth Football Association: Joe Micallef
Gozo Football Association: Dr Samuel Azzopardi
Other Member Associations: Francis Muscat and Pio Vassallo

There are four amendments or alterations to the Statute which are being proposed.

The Executive Commitee is proposing an adjustment to the composition of the Executive Commitee following the creation of the National Amateur League and an adjustment to the pairing of Gozo FA clubs for the purpose of player status, registration and possible compensation.

Swieqi United are proposing an amendment intended to allow the possibility that a Council Member is substituted if unable to attend. The substitute would have the status of observer without the power to vote.

Another amendment being proposed is for the Rules Governing Competitions following the change from the First Division to the Challenge League and the replacing of the Second and Third Division with the National Amateur League.

Meanwhile two motions are being put forward – one regarding the Promotion and Relegation from the Premier League, Challenge League and the National Amateur League in season 2020/21 and the other regarding the composition of the Youth League in season 2020/21.

After the Annual General Meeting, the trophies to the various winners of the individual awards for season 2019/20 will be presented.
