Malta international Rachel Cuschieri completed her move to Italian Serie B side Lazio Women while Ylenia Carabott secured a deal with Belgian Super League side Charleroi.
Twenty-eight year old Rachel Cuschieri started playing with the San Gwann nursery, signing for Birkirkara in 2005. With the Stripes, she won all the major honours in domestic competitions. In 2014, Cuschieri moved to Cyprus to join Apollon Ladies where she won three championships in three years. In 2017, she signed for Anderlecht. They won the Super League 2017/18 but she missed the last part of the season due to an injury. The following year, she joined PSV Vrouwen in the Netherlands where she spent the last two years. At Lazio, Cuschieri will join Emma Lipman who signed for the club earlier.
Before football was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Lazio Women were second in the Serie B table on 34 points, two behind Napoli and two ahead of San Marino Academy. The FIGC handed the two promotion berths to Napoli and San Marino as the algorithm used by the Italian federation penalised Lazio for having played a game more than their rivals. Therefore this coming season, Lazio Women are expected to be all out to secure promotion to the Serie A.
Meanwhile Ylenia Carabott will be moving to Belgium, joining Super League side Charleroi following a spell with Chievo Fortitudo Women in the Italian Serie B last year.
Earlier in her career, Carabott had already played for Alby FF and Ange IF in Sweden.
A product of Hibernians, Carabott won all the major honours with the Paolites before her move to Birkirkara on loan in season 2018/19. After winning the double with the Stripes, she was transferred from Hibernians in summer.
