The fifth edition of the annual Convenience Shop Tournament, organised by San Gwann FC, kicked-off at the Charles Abela Stadium on Sunday with the first two matches.
In the first match, Qrendi defeated San Gwann on penalties after coming back from two goals down.
San Gwann took the lead through Attiah Chibueze on the 12th minute and Andrea Zammit doubled the score on the 37th. However Qrendi reduced the gap thanks to Andrew Agius seven minutes in the second half and Constantin Cotou equalised on the 65th.
In the penalty-shoot-out, Matthew Xuereb scored the only penalty for San Gwann with Sebastian Perdomo, Michael Gatt and Raphael Kooh Sohna scoring for Qrendi.
In another match, Marsaxlokk came from behind to beat Zebbug Rangers 2-1 with goals by Bradley Sciberras on the 30th and Clive Brincat on the 34th after Chris Vella had put the Rangers ahead on the 25th.
