Zejtun cruise past Sirens

Zejtun Corinthians returned to winning ways as they registered a fine 4-0 win over Sirens at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.

A win which enables Orosco Anonam’s side to move ninth, on level points with Balzan. Sirens, on the other hand, remain joint-fourth from bottom

The Corinthians forged ahead on the 15th minute when off an assist by Neil Tabone from the left, Fernando Jose Gomes Junior advanced past five defenders as he pulled to the left before hitting low past goalkeeper David Cassar.

Seven minutes later, Zejtun doubled the score thanks to a close-range header by Kemar Reid following a cross from the right by Vitor da Silva Vieira.

Zejtun maintained the pressure and seven minutes from the end of the first half, Vitor da Silva Vieira won possession in midfield and advanced before beating David Cassar with a shot from outside the area with the ball going underneath the goalkeeper before ending at the back of the net.

On the 71st minute, Edward Herrera sent Vitor da Silva Vieira through on the right and the latter advanced into the area, beating the Sirens custodian with an angled shot.

One minute from time, Zejtun could have added another but Vitor da Silva Vieira’s header hit the crossbar.

  1. Well Done Blues,

Nearly dominant throughout the match. We were good in all sectors of the game. Another good thing is that we didn’t made fouls that led to any bookings, something that I remarked last time I commented here. The fighting spirit was marvellous and at times we held our opponent in their defensive area when the result was already 3-0.
This game is done and dusted, let’s continue working hard since there is still a long road ahead.
Congratulations to all the players and staff and keep up the good work. And like many others, we hope that soon we have the green light to come and see matches to give you our support.

Kurragg Blues Iz- Zejtun kollu warajkom.
