Marsa moved to just one point behind leaders Pembroke Athleta as they registered a fifth consecutive in the BOV Challenge League on Sunday.
A goal four minutes in the second half by Antonio Monticelli handed Marsa a narrow win over Zebbug Rangers at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.
In another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Qrendi defeated St. George’s 2-1. Daniel Mariano Bueno converted a penalty to put Qrendi ahead on the 37th minute and although Leeroy Bonett equalised ont he 79th, four minutes later, Sebastian Perdomo Esquivel notched the winner.
At the Centenary Stadium, leaders Pembroke Athleta were held in a 1-1 draw by Vittoriosa Stars. A penalty by Luis Andre De Melo Lima put Vittoriosa ahead five minutes from the end of the first half but Kyle Frendo rescued a point for Pembroke eleven minutes from time.
Fgura United returned to winning ways as a brace by Svain Abela on the 10th and 41st handed them a 2-0 win over Naxxar Lions.
On the other hand, San Gwann were held in a 1-1 draw by St. Andrews. Malcolm Vella Vidal opened the score for St. Andrews on the hour but Andrea Zammit converted a penalty on the 74th to equalise.
