Futsal: Third win on the trot for Mellieha

Debutants Mellieħa registered a third win in four matches as the fourth round of matches was played at the National Sports School and De La Salle Pavillion. Luxol, Valletta and Żurrieq also emerged winners in their respective matches. 

Mellieħa saw off Naxxar Lions, beating them 5-2. After obtaining a comprehensive margin, Mellieħa relaxed and Naxxar Lions produced a reaction which was a bit late in the day. Denzil Pisani and Armando Gjepali obtained a brace with Dusan Petrovic adding another one for the Northerners. The Lions scored their two goals thanks to a Jean Noel Azzopardi double.

Luxol kept their perfect record intact as they notched their fourth win with a 17-2 thumping over Qormi. The St Andrews side dominated from start to finish as Brazilian Veve scored four goals. Mark Zammit and Giancarlo Sammut netted a hat-trick while Dylan Musu and Marwan Telisi hit the target twice. Celino Alves, Andy Mangion and Evandro scored the other goals for Luxol. Qormi scored their two goals courtesy of George Chircop and Luiz Lopez . 

Melvin Borg was the hero for Valletta with five goals in a 6-3 win over Ta’ Xbiex. The latter gave a good account of themselves and managed to score some goals to keep them in the match. Glenn Bonello, Stefi Cale and Jason Gauci were their scorers as Zvezdan Vukovic added another one for the Citizens. 

During last week, Marsaskala Futsal were involved in two matches from the FMA League although they didn’t manage to get the desired points from both encounters.

In their first match, they suffered a 7-0 defeat against University of Malta. The latter dominated the proceedings and scored their most important goals through a hat-trick by Stefan Camilleri, Mauro Sultana, Dylan Mintoff, Denis di Maio and Neil Cauchi.

In their second match, the Southseasiders had a better showing as they were only beaten 7-5 against Żurrieq. The latter managed to break their duck as they scored through Terence Cachia (2), Tyron Borg, Christian Lia and an own-goal. 

Marsaskala had Gianluca Lo Giudice scoring a brace while Dylan Caruana, Ryan Pisani and an own goal completed their scoresheet.
