BOV Amateur League: More teams secure play-off spots

The battle for the play-offs spots in the respective groups in the BOV National Amateur League continued on Saturday.

In Group A, Zurrieq, Marsaskala and Mellieha will be taking the play-off spots after Mgarr United won the group and promotion.

Zurrieq inflicted the first defeat on Mgarr United, beating them 2-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Andre Joe Cutajar put Zurrieq ahead on the 10th minute and Jean Paul Formosa doubled the score on the 48th.

In another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Marsaskala defeated Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 2-0 courtesy of Anthony Ewurum on the 25th and Joseph Chetcuti on the 79th.

Mellieha beat Gharghur 2-1 at the Luxol Stadium. Mamadou Sanna Maneh put Gharghur ahead on the 8th minute. Yaron Sammut equalised on the 43rd and eight minutes in the second half, Andie Sammut made it 2-1.

In Group B, nothing is decided yet as Luqa lead the way with 21 points, followed by Msida and Rabat on 18, Siggiewi on 17 and Mtarfa 15. Luqa need one point from the remaining two matches to secure promotion.

Siggiewi defeated Rabat Ajax 3-0 at the Sirens Stadium thanks to goals by Eman Ciappara on the 42nd, Emmanuel Mbong on the 68th and Jason Camilleri on the 95th.

In Group C, Dingli Swallows beat Kalkara United 2-1. Robert Ciantar put Dingli ahead on the 18th, Aidan Agius Gilford equalised on the 25th but Ion Alin Margarit made it 2-1 for Dingli seven minutes from time.
