FA Trophy: Sliema, Floriana and holders Balzan eliminated

The two teams who won the FA Trophy most – Sliema Wanderers and Floriana – and holders Balzan were all eliminated as nine matches from the FA Trophy Round of 32 were played on Wednesday.

At the Centenary Stadium, a stoppage time goal by Jed Valletta handed Challenge League side St. Andrews a narrow win over Sliema Wanderers. The Blues had Alessandro Milesi sent off eleven minutes from time.

Floriana lost 1-3 to Santa Lucia at the Hibernians Stadium. Augusto Rene Caseres put Santa Lucia ahead on the 12th minute and a brace by Kevin Ante Rosero on the 45th and 62nd extended the lead. Kristian Keqi pulled one back eight minutes from time.

Holders Balzan, also, lost 1-3 to Mosta at the Hibernians Stadium. Bojan Kaljevic put Mosta ahead on the 14th. Three minutes in the second half, Divine Naah doubled the score and although an own goal on the 73rd minute reduced the gap for Balzan, Bojan Kaljevic sealed the issue with another goal on the 79th.
