Gzira United were awarded a 3-0 win by the Protests Board of the Malta Football Association after the Maroons had filed a protest against the result of the February 3 clash with Gudja United over the ineligibility of Sergio Pereira Cruz.
The thirty-two year old was included as a substitute on the 59th minute in a game which saw Gudja notching the equaliser on the 90th minute for a 1-1 draw.
Last summer, Sergio Cruz was on the books of SSD Jesina but in October moved to ACR Messina. However later that month, he moved to Rende Calcio. He joined his fourth club this season – Gudja on February 1.
Meanwhile this win puts Gzira United closer to Hibernians as they now move just two points behind the Paolites and five ahead of Sliema Wanderers.
On the other hand, Gudja fall one place, leaving Valletta in ninth place on 24 points and joining Zejtun Corinthians on 23.
