San Gwann received another setback in the battle for third place as they suffered a second defeat in four days as they lost 3-4 to Pieta’ Hotspurs in a match from the BOV Challenge League at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.
Daniel Mesa put the Hotspurs ahead and Quadri Adebayo Adediran equalised on the 34th. Pieta’ regained the lead thanks to James Scicluna on the 39th but Adediran levelled matters once again on the 63rd. A Daniel Mesa penalty on the 69th made it 3-2 for Pieta’ with Diego Segura adding another three minutes from time. Sjaak Kuyper reduced the arrears on the 89th.
Fgura United returned to winning ways as they beat Mqabba 2-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Kurt Borg put Mqabba ahead onthe 10th but goals by Donys Aldair Quintero on the 62nd and Gilbert Martin five minutes later handed Fgura the three points.
In another match, Zebbug Rangers defeated St. George’s 5-2 at the Centenary Stadium.
Giorgio De Marino handed Zebbug the lead on the 13th minute. Clive Gauci doubled the score on the 21st but Wilfried Zamble reduced the gap on the 37th. However, an own goal put Zebbug 3-1 ahead just before half-time. Zamble scored the Saints’ second goal on the 68th but Luka Mijic made it 4-2 on the 77th and two minutes later, Clive Gauci added another.
