Sliema held by Gudja in 1-1 draw

After suffering four consecutive defeats, Gudja United earned a precious point in a 1-1 draw with Sliema Wanderers at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.

A draw which puts Jesmond Zammit’s side tenth place on 24 points, one ahead of Zejtun and Floriana and four ahead of Balzan.

On the other hand, although they are still fourth, Sliema now lie seven points behind third-placed Gzira United.

Followng a goalless first half, Sliema took the lead on the 48th minute when a corner from the right created havoc inside the area with Alex Satariano hitting the bar and Danny Holla placing the ball at the back of the net from close range off the rebound.

However on the 57th minute, Gudja equalised when off a cross by Justin Grioli from the right, Gabriel Mensah slotted the ball past goalkeeper Jake Galea.
