Mellieha were the first team to be eliminated from the BOV National Amateur League promotion play-offs after losing 1-2 to Xghajra Tornados at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Tuesday.
Deemer Cutajar put Xghajra ahead on the 9th minute and a Julian Spiteri penalty enabled them to double the score. Jordan Debattista pulled one back for Mellieha on the 59th minute.
In the quarter-finals, Xghajra will be facing Attard.
