Hibernians keep the pace with leaders Hamrun

Hibernians kept the pace with leaders Hamrun Spartans as they defeated Zejtun Corinthians 2-0 at the Hibernians Stadium on Saturday.

This was the sixth win on the trot for the Paolites who trail Hamrun by two points ahead of the March 6 direct clash between the two at the National Stadium.

Zejtun, on the other hand, suffer a third consecutive defeat to stay fifth from bottom.

Hibs took the lead on the 2nd minute when off an assist by Jurgen Degabriele, Dunstan Vella served Jake Grech whose first shot was blocked by a defender, hitting home off the rebound.

The Paolites doubled the score on the 74th thanks to Gilmar da Silva Ribeiro who hit hard past Cassar when served by Tiago Fonseca from the right.
