In a bid to strengthen their squad, Balzan welcomed back two of their former players – Bojan Kaljevic and Alex da Paixao.

Thirty five year old forward Bojan Kaljevic moved to Malta to join Mosta in summer 2013 from Montengrin First Division side Mladost.  He then joined Balzan in the January 2015 transfer window, spending three and a half years with the club before moving to Valletta in summer 2018. Last season, he joined Mosta on loan.

Brazilian winger Alex da Paixao Alves, known as Lecao, played for Bahia de Feira, Ferroviario, Oeste, Colo Colo and Parnahyba in Brazil before moving to Malta to join Tarxien Rainbows in summer 2015. Two years later, he moved to Balzan but in January 2019, he was transferred to Al Akhdoud Club in Saudi Arabia. Last summer, he returned to Malta to join Birkirkara.
