Nadur hit seven past Xewkija

Nadur Youngsters and Ghajnsielem moved top in the BOV Gozo Football League First Division after both registered wins.

The Youngsters found no difficulty in beating Xewkija Tigers 7-0 on Friday. Judivan Flor da Silva opened the score after just nine minutes but it was during the second half that Nadur scored the other six goals. Two minutes in the second half, Stefan Cassar made it 2-0 and Marcelo Barbosa Junior scored on the 64th and 70th to extend the lead. Judivan made it 5-0 on the 73rd and five minutes later, Barbosa added another. Jordi Parnis scored the seventh goal three minutes from time.

Kercem Ajax suffered their first defeat, losing 0-3 to Ghajnsielem on Sunday. Kenneth Mercieca put the Blacks ahead on the 42nd and Igor Nedeljkovic converted a penalty five minutes in the second half. Mercieca added another on the 63rd. Dejan Bogdanovic was sent off for Ghajnsielem on the 72nd minute.

Victoria Hotspurs registered their first win, defeating neighbours SK Victoria Wanderers 3-1 on Saturday. Kebba Kebell Suso put the Hotspurs ahead on the 53rd and on the hour, Gabriel Fernandes Olimpio converted a penalty to double the score. Damon Hili made it 3-0 on the 75th but an own goal two minutes from time handed the Wanderers a consolation goal.

On Monday, Oratory Youths claimed their first points, defeating Sannat Lions 3-0 thanks to a goal by Rodrigo Ost dos Santos on the 23rd and a brace by Haraan Hajazan Goncalves Barbosa on the 38th and 92nd.

Nadur and Ghajnsielem lead the way with 7 points, followed by Kercem on 6, Victoria Hotspurs and Xewkija 4, Oratory 3, Sannat 2 and SK Victoria Wanderers 0.
