Nadur Youngsters take sole leadership

Nadur Youngsters take sole leadership in the BOV Gozo Football League First Division as Ghajnsielem suffered their first defeat.

The Youngsters registered an impressive 5-1 win over Kercem Ajax on Friday. Joseph Zammit put Nadur ahead on the 16th minute. Judivan Flor da Silva converted a penalty to double the score on the 24th and on the half hour, Marcelo Barbosa Junior made it 3-0. Marcelo Barbosa added another on the 70th and although Luiz Henrique Santana Motta converted a penalty for Kercem eight minutes from time, Gabriel Farrugia made it 4-1 on the 89th.

On Monday, Sannat Lions defeated Ghajnsielem 4-2. Lucas Silva Gomes handed Sannat a two-goal lead, scoring a goal on the 10th and converting a penalty on the 25th. Henry Fabian Solis made it 3-0 on the 72nd. An Igor Nedeljkovic penalty reduced the gap on the 74th but an own goal by Kevin Farrugia put Sannat 4-1 ahead. Nedeljkovic converted another penalty nine minutes from time to score a second goal for Ghajnsielem.

Xewkija Tigers returned to winning ways as they came from behind to beat Victoria Hotspurs 3-2 on Saturday. The Hotspurs took the lead thanks to a goal by Damon Hili on the 66th. Haruna Shola Shodija equalised thanks to a penalty on the 72nd but Kakra Boakye-Mensa made it 2-1 on the 79th. However, five minutes from time, Joel Xuereb levelled matters and Shola Shodija notched the winner on the 90th.

On Sunday, SK Victoria Wanderers registred their first win, beating neighbours Oratory Youths 2-1. Haraan Hajazan Goncalves Barbosa put Oratory ahead on the 5th minute but Oliver Curmi equalised on the 32nd and Fabricio Rozkiewicz made it 2-1 on the 56th.

Meanwhile in the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division, Munxar Falcons defeated St. Lawrence Spurs 2-0 at the Kercem Arkafort Stadium thanks to goals by Ayesller Carvalho on the 49th and Robert Grima on the 63rd.

In another match, a goal by Daniel Mesa nine minutes from time handed Zebbug Rovers a narrow win over Xaghra United.
