BOV Challenge League: Marsa edge past Qrendi

A goal on the 77th minute by substitute Ryan Darmanin handed Marsa their second win in Group B of the BOV Challenge League as they defeated Qrendi 1-0 in one of the three matches in programme at the the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Saturday.

In another match from Group B, Zebbug Rangers beat Senglea Athletic 3-0 thanks to a brace by Shalon Diacono on the 4th and 76th and a goal by Miguel Perez Jimenez on the 80th.

Tarxien lead the way with 9 points, followed by Marsa on 8, Zebbug, Fgura and Swieqi on 7, Qrendi and Pieta’ 6, Luqa 5, Mgarr and Senglea 3 and St. Andrews 2.

In Group A, Rabat Ajax registered their first win as they beat Mqabba 2-1. The Magpies missed a penalty but still managed to take the lead on the 32nd thanks to Petar Kanzurov. Ryan Spiteri converted a penalty to level matters on the 39th but a goal by Aidan Azzopardi on the 44th handed Rabat the three points.

Naxxar lead the way with 15 points, followed by Zejtun on 10, Pembroke 9, Melita 7, Vittoriosa 6, San Gwann 5, Rabat, Lija and Mqabba 4, Marsaxlokk 1 and St. George’s 0.
