Zebbug Rangers beat Luqa St. Andrew’s 8-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday to move top in Group B of the BOV Challenge League.
Shalon Diacono put the Rangers ahead on the 3rd minute, Gaetano Gesualdi doubled the score on the 16th and Miguel Perez Jimenez made it 3-0 on the 31st. Diacono increased the lead three minutes in the second half and Stanimir Miloskovic made it 5-0 on the 72nd. Jonatan Silveira da Silva scored twice on the 74th and 87th with Yanis Tonna scoring on the 81st.
At the Centenary Stadium, Senglea Athletic returned to winning ways as they defeated St. Andrews 2-1
Jairo Andres Tenorio put Senglea ahead on the 2nd minute and eight minutes later, Matheus De Lucena Guariento doubled the score. Santiago Martinez Perlaza pulled one back seven minutes in the second half.
Zebbug lead the way with 13 points, followed by Tarxien on 12 points, Marsa on 11, Fgura and Pieta’ on 10, Swieqi 9, Qrendi 7, Luqa, Mgarr and Senglea 6, St. Andrews 3.
Meanwhile in Group A, Naxxar Lions keep marching on with a 2-0 win over Melita at the Centenary Stadium to register the seventh win in as many matches.
Gilberto Carrara Martins Leite put Naxxar ahead on the 37th and Samuel Saldanha doubled the score just before the end of the first half.
The other match between Zejtun Corinthians and Vittoriosa Stars was postponed.
Naxxar lead the way with 21 points, followed by Pembroke on 13, Zejtun and Melita 11, Marsaxlokk 7, San Gwann and Vittoriosa 6, Rabat 5, Lija and Mqabba 4 and St. George’s 1.
