New facilities at the Balzan FC Academy training ground were inaugurated on Saturday by MFA President Mr. Bjorn Vassallo and Permanent Secretary to the Ministry for Sport, Recreation and Voluntary Organisations, Mr. Matthew Vella.
Club President Mr. Anton Tagliaferro thanked both the MFA and the Government for their support in making the facility possible and also thanked the many volunteers at the club who helped in the construction of the new facility over the last two years.
“Despite challenging times given the onset of COVID with all the related lockdowns and disruptions, we are extremely happy to have now completed the facility and to have it fully operational,” said Mr Anton Tagliaferro.
The new facility incorporates a state-of-the-art recovery area with ice baths and sauna, a kitchen and dining area as well as accommodation for up to 20-24 people.
“The new facilities are unique in Malta as they allow our Academy coaches to host team building and educational weekends for their junior teams as well to invite visiting teams from other clubs to do likewise,” said Mr Tagliaferro. “These facilities can now be enjoyed by all our Academy teams for many years in the future.”
