Precious points at stake as Gzira take on Santa Lucia and Mosta face Sirens

Precious points will be at stake at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Saturday as Gzira United take on Santa Lucia and Mosta face Sirens.

In the first match, Gzira United, who share the sixth place with Balzan on 18 points eye the three points in their battle to secure a top six finish. They are coming from a 1-3 defeat to Hibernians after obtaining back-to-back wins over Gudja and Sirens. On the other hand, lying second from bottom on ten points, Santa Lucia are desperate for points. They earned just one point from the last three matches following a 0-1 defeat to Hamrun, a 3-3 draw with Balzan and a 1-3 defeat to Floriana.

Santa Lucia will be without Alan da Silva Souza.

In the first round, the two teams shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

In the second match, Mosta face Sirens.

Sirens are currently eighth on 15 points. They earned four points from the last three matches following a 2-1 win over Floriana, a 1-3 defeat to Gzira and a goalless draw with Gudja. Mosta, on the other hand, share the ninth place with Gudja, four points behind Sirens. They earned just two points from their last four matches following a 2-2 draw with Gzira, two defeats to Valletta and Gudja and a 2-2 draw with Birkirkara.

The St. Paul’s Bay side could not count on the suspended Fernando Brandan and Carlo Zammit Lonardelli.
