Second-half goals give Floriana Old Firm derby win

Floriana scored twice in the second half to beat Old Firm rivals Sliema Wanderers 2-0 at the National Stadium on Sunday. A win which puts the Greens in second place, eight points behind leaders Hibernians, leaving the Wanderers anchored at the bottom of the table with four points.

Following a goalless first half, Floriana took the lead on the 59th minute when they were awarded a foul just outside the area which cost Kurt Shaw a red card for denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity. Brandon Paiber beat goalkeeper Timothy Aquilina with a direct freekick.

Six minutes from time, substitute Kristian Keqi doubled the score for the Greens with a fine shot from outside the area.
