Tarxien Rainbows scored deep into stoppage time to hold Zebbug Rangers in a 1-1 draw in a top-of-the-table clash in Group B of the BOV Challenge League at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Saturday.
Stanimir Miloskovic put Zebbug ahead ten minutes from time but Wellington de Oliveira equalised five minutes in added time.
At the Centenary Stadium, St. Andrews registered an important 5-2 win over Fgura United.
Luis Andre de Melo Lima scored on the 32nd and 34th to hand the Saints a two-goal lead and Zak Muscat made it 3-0 six minutes in the second half. Rafael Conrado Prudente pulled one back on the 54th but Kei Sano made it 4-1. Prudente scored again for Fgura on the 68th but Santiago Martinez sealed the issue with a fifth goal.
Zebbug lead the way with 24 points, followed by Tarxien on 22, Pieta’ 21, Marsa 20, Qrendi 17, Fgura, St. Andrews and Swieqi 16, Senglea 12, Mgarr 10 and Luqa 7.
In Group A, Zejtun Corinthians dropped two important points in a goalless draw with San Gwann at the Centenary Stadium.
Mqabba, on the other hand, defeated Melita 3-2 to earn a precious win. Gabriel Nazareno Mannino put Mqabba ahead four minutes from the end of the first half and five minutes in the second half, Ronald Makalysten Melo Costa doubled the score. However goals by Jean Pierre Attard on the 51st and Matthew Debattista on the 68th restored equilibrium but Luka Mijic notched the winner on the 71st.
Naxxar lead the way with 31 points, followed by Pembroke on 30, Zejtun 24, Lija and Melita 18, Marsaxlokk and Mqabba 16, San Gwann 14, Vittoriosa 10, Rabat 9 and St. George’s 4.
