BOV Challenge League: Pieta’, Tarxien keep the pace with Zebbug

Pieta’ Hotspurs and Tarxien Rainbows kept the pace with leaders Zebbug Rangers in Group B of the BOV Challenge League as they both registered wins on Sunday.

At the Centenary Stadium, Pieta’ defeated Marsa 2-1. Valdo Goncalves Alhinho put Marsa ahead on the 9th minute but Sheldon Mizzi equalised on the 36th and Abdeen Temitope Abdul notched the winner ten minutes from time.

Tarxien Rainbows defeated Mgarr United 4-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium thanks to Thiago Nonato Peixoto on the 26th, a brace by Ricardo Silva Faria on the 35th and the 60th and Daren Falzon on the 70th.

Zebbug lead the way with 36 points followed by Pieta’ on 33, Tarxien 31, Marsa 29, Fgura 25, St. Andrews 22, Qrendi 20, Swieqi 19, Senglea 12, Mgarr and Luqa 10.

In Group A, Pembroke Athleta moved four points clear thanks to a 3-0 win over Mqabba at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Following a goalless first half, Erikys da Silva Ferreira put Pembroke ahead on the 58th. Jurgen Suda doubled the score on the 65th and Stefan Jankovic sealed the issue with a third goal twelve minutes from time.

At the Centenary Stadium, Lydon Micallef notched a hat-trick as Lija Athletic defeated Rabat Ajax 3-1. Micallef handed Lija a two-goal lead with goals on the 11th and 67th and after Melvin Akingboye pulled one back for Rabat on the 80th, Micallef added another four minutes later.

Pembroke lead the way with 38 points, followed by Naxxar on 34, Zejtun 31, Marsaxlokk 29, Melita 27, Lija 24, San Gwann 23, Mqabba 17, Rabat and Vittoriosa 13 and St. George’s 4.
