BOV National Amateur League: Zurrieq, Marsaskala register wins

Zurrieq stay six points clear of Marsaskala in Group B of the BOV National Amateur League as both sides registered wins on Sunday.

A brace by Timothy Thomas on the 25th and 27th handed Zurrieq a 2-0 win over Qormi at the Centenary Stadium.

On the other hand, Marsaskala defeated Mellieha 4-1 at the Sirens Stadium.

Nicholas Zammit put the Southseasiders ahead on the 23rd and although an own goal restored equilibrium on the 42nd, Zammit scored again to make it 2-1 before half-time, adding another early in the second half. Fabrizio Zammit sealed the issue with a goal on the 61st.

Zurrieq lead the way with 35 points, followed by Marsaskala on 29, Mtarfa and Zabbar on 25, Mdina 18, Kirkop 11, Mellieha 10, Qormi 9, Sta. Venera 8.

Meanwhile in Group A, Msida St. Joseph moved third thanks to a narrow win over Kalkara United at the Sirens Stadium.

Warren Zerafa scored the all-important goal on the 47th minute.

Attard lead the way with 32 points, followed by Gharghur on 27, Msida 25, Birzebbuga and Kalkara 23, Xghajra 18, Siggiewi 13, Ghaxaq and Dingli 11, Ta’ Xbiex 10. Attard had nine points deducted.
