Valletta hold Birkirkara in 1-1 draw

After losing to Santa Lucia and being held in a goalless draw by Sliema Wanderers, Birkirkara dropped another two points as they were held in a 1-1 draw by Valletta at the National Stadium on Saturday.

The Stripes, now lie in third place, one point ahead of Hamrun and three ahead of Gzira, Valletta, on the other hand, will play among the bottom six and start their second phase commitments one point behind Sirens, one ahead of Mosta, three ahead of Balzan and four ahead of Santa Lucia

Birkirkara took the lead on the 27th minute when off a cross from the left by Kurt Zammit, Kilian Bevis served Paul Mbong who hit low past goalkeeper Alessandro Guarnone.

In the second half, Valletta pushed hard for the equaliser, being unlucky to hit the bar through Ivan Curjuric and going close with a Mario Fontanella effort which was neutralised by Sylla but on the 90th, Emmanuel Promise Oluwatobi David took advantage of an erratic clearance by the Birkirkara goalkeeper hitting home.
