Futsal: St. George’s close in on Naxxar after win in direct clash from Challenger League

St. George’s won the direct encounter against Naxxar Lions 8-3 to climb second in the Enemed Futsal Challenger League table.

The Cottonera side adopted an aggressive approach that left their opponents stunned to register their sixth win of the season. Faisal Alnakuoo was inspirational for St George’s as he was two times on the mark while Clayton Micallef, Matthew Scicluna, Liam Caruana, Vuk Rankovic, Carl Farrugia and an own goal rubberstamped this important victory. Naxxar Lions, who were suffering their sixth defeat of the season, had Antoine Barbara, Clyde Bonavia and Calvin Scicluna on target.

Siġġiewi Futsal confirmed their recent progress as they won the derby against Qormi Futsal 13-3. The team led by Paul Bugeja had clear ideas as from the start with nippy striker Oliveira Santos Wallace scoring a hat-trick. Andrea Rufa, Justin Theuma, Ryan Muscat and Kurt Darmanin netted a brace apiece while Juan Morales and an own goal completed the score for the Yellow/Reds. Qormi pulled three goals back from a Christian George Mallia double and Bertram Azzopardi.

Meanwhile before the start of these games, the Futsal Malta Association joined other sports associations all over the world to support the campaign for Ukrainians who are passing from a very difficult moment.

Meanwhile Ryan Muscat was chosen as the Enemed Player of the Month for the month of February.  

Muscat, who plays with Siġġiewi FC Futsal is undergoing a positive season and has also been called up by the National Team coach as one of the promising youngsters in futsal. He also featured in the last friendly match against Estonia.  

Muscat was instrumental for Siġġiewi to start on a positive note the Enemed Challenger League as he helped his team win the first encounters. 

Ing. Philip Borg, Chief Operations at Enemed and FMA President Mark Borg presented the award to Muscat, together with vouchers sponsored by Enemed and Tutto Sport .
