BOV Challenge League: Zebbug celebrate in style with win over Marsa

Zebbug Rangers ended their Group B commitments in the BOV Challenge League as they defeated Marsa 3-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

Goals by Shaun Bugeja and Stanimir Miloskovic in the last four minutes of the first half put them two goals ahead with Jordan Sciberras increasing the lead ten minutes from time. Amadou Samb scored a consolation goal for Marsa two minutes from time.

In another match, a goal by Michael Camilleri on the 61st minute handed Mgarr United a narrow win over Luqa St. Andrew’s at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

Zebbug ended their commitments on 45 points, followed by Pieta’ on 37, Tarxien 35, Marsa 33, Fgura 31 St. Andrews 28, Qrendi and Swieqi 24, Senglea 15, Mgarr 14 and Luqa 10.

In Group A, a brace by Amarildo Leirosa Junior on the 8th and 32nd and goals by Dale Mifsud on the 66th and Ishmael Colombo on the 88th handed San Gwann a comfortable 4-0 win over Mqabba at the Centenary Stadium.

In another match at the Centenary Stadium, St. George’s held Lija Athletic in a 2-2 draw. Nick Borg put the Saints ahead, Bradley Sciberras equalised on the 65th, Ryan Cutajar restored the lead for St. George’s on the 71st but six minutes from time, Lydon Micallef levelled matters.

At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Melita came from behind to beat Rabat Ajax 2-1. Larens Vella put the Magpies ahead after just one minute but goals by Noel Francis Omondi on the 48th and Matthew Debattista on the 70th handed Melita the three points.
