Siġġiewi Futsal stunned Naxxar Lions, defeating them 6-3 in the Enemed Futsal Challenger League. On the other hand, St George’s obtained a massive 8-0 win over Marsaskala Futsal to join Naxxar Futsal at the top of the Challenger League table.
Therefore a decider between Naxxar and St George’s is necessary to determine the top spot ahead of the play-offs. This will be played on Wednesday at the NSS Pavillion, kick-off at 18:30.
Siġġiewi and Naxxar produced an exciting encounter with both sides giving their all to get the most desired result. In the end it was Paul Bugeja’s troops who had the last laugh as Shataizan Zarb, Wallace Oliveira Santos, Darren Attard, Juan Morales, Kurt Darmanin and Justin Theuma put their names on the scoresheet. Naxxar were always in the game and it was in the final minutes that they succumbed to their seventh defeat of the season. Antoine Barbara, Matthew Buttigieg and Clyde Bonavia were the Lions’ goalscorers.
St George’s dominated from start to finish against Marsaskala as the 8-0 scoreline clearly shows. Faisal Alnakuoo and Tiago Rodrigues were inspirational for the Cottonera side as they scored a hat-trick with Karl Luke Schembri and Charvon Gatt adding more goals for their team. On the other hand, this was Marsaskala’s last match of the season as they are eliminated from the play-offs.
Żurrieq Futsal obtained a fine 3-1 win over Qormi with Boycho Marev, George Douglas Saliba and Gabriel Ghigo on the mark for the winners. Miguel Agius pulled one back for Qormi.
In the only match played from the Enemed Futsal Premier League, Ta’ Xbiex climbed fourth in the table after seeing off Mellieħa 8-2.
Stefi Cale was the main protagonist for the Blacks as he netted a hat-trick with Redeemer Borg, Jason Gauci, Karl Sacco and Christian Wismayer also on target for their team. Misa Spasic and Marinko Solarevic scored for Mellieha.
