Women’s Under-19 national team turns defeat into victory to beat Faroe Islands

The Malta women’s Under-19 national team came from behind to beat the Faroe Islands 3-2 at the Seaview in Belfast on Tuesday.

Malta therefore ended its commitments on level points with group winners and hosts Northern Ireland on seven points but had to settle for second place due to an inferior goal-difference.

Judith Eilersdottir put the Faroe Islands ahead on the 7th minute and Ellingsgaard doubled the score on the 32nd. Tammy Falzon reduced the gap on the 65th and two minutes later, Malta equalised as Loa Samuelsen committed an own goal. Martina Fenech notched the winner on the 71st minute.
